Ebook About My new assignment at work: test out toys. Yup, that kind.Well, technically, it's to test the app that controls the toys remotely. One problem? The showgirl who's supposed to test the hardware (as in, the actual toys) joins a nunnery.Another problem? This project is important to my Russian boss, the broody, mouthwateringly sexy Vlad, a.k.a. The Impaler. There's only one solution: test both the software and the hardware myself... with his help.NOTE: This is a standalone, raunchy, slow-burn romantic comedy featuring a quirky, nerdy heroine, her hot, mysterious Russian boss, and two guinea pigs who may or may not be into each other. If any of the above is not your cup of tea, run far, far away. Otherwise, buckle in for a snort-water-up-the-nose-funny, feel-good ride.Book Hard Code: A Laugh-Out-Loud Workplace Romantic Comedy Review :
HARD CODE is EVERYTHING its authors have promised and MORE! HARD CODE’s subtitle reads, “A Laugh-Out-Loud Workplace Romantic Comedy” which is a perfect representation, but I want to tell you more. First, I haven’t laughed so hard in ages. Imagine this 70-year-old reading a book with the picture of a hot guy on the cover laughing uproariously at a romance?? Yes, I caught a few stares, but even more, smiles were sent my way. That is not to say my eyes didn’t dilate during the titillating scenes, and there are plenty of them, or that my eyes didn’t tear up a couple of times, but mostly I was back giggling like a ditsy schoolgirl before the chapter ended! The laughing was not a result of some over the top antics. On the contrary, it was easy for this reader to relate to the situations in which Vlad and Fanny found themselves. Through the masterful use of dual narration, the writing team of Bell and Zaires had me in the heads of two centered people who tried to keep it together but could not take life too seriously when around each other. Beyond the out of the box humor, and those amazing characters I’d love to know in real life, HARD CODE gives readers a front-row seat to what has to be the most genuinely awkward yet sincerely beautiful romance, I’ve ever read. No, the characters are not socially awkward, nor is their problem one of incompatibility. In HARD CODE, the writing team of Misha Bell and Anna Zaires, treat their readers to a phenomenal romance built on shared interests, a love of rodents, and an ability to trust each other enough to be themselves! Starting with the introduction of Fanny Pack and her BFF Ava, an amazing plotline pulled me so far into the story, I blushed when Fanny blushed! My investment and focus were so total, I read throughout the night. I could not put HARD CODE down. After a short nap, I purchased my pre-order copy of HARD CODE so I can place it in the FAVORITES folder of my Kindle and read it again and again. I volunteered to read a copy of HARD CODE and this is my honest and VOLUNTARY 5+STAR review. I wish I could award more! Since I cannot, I will STRONGLY recommend that you purchase your copy of HARD CODE today! Happy pages! 😉 Misha Bell is the pen name of author couple Anna Zaires and Dima Zales. Under her own name Anna writes mostly dark romance and dark fantasy romance, although she has recently branched out into contemporary romance with the Titan duet. Dima Zales writes sci-fi, but I have only read his urban fantasy series Sasha Urban. So for their foray into rom-com they decided to adopt a new pen name. The story is written in historical present and told in 1st person from the point of view of the heroine, which works well for the purposes of the plot as the reader is largely left in the dark about the motivations of the hero and it gives the heroine room to speculate about his motives and imbues him with an air of mystery. The story vacillates between hilariously funny and terribly embarrassing. After finishing college, our young heroine Fanny has recently started work at a software company as an apps tester, although her goal is to get into programming herself. Somehow she ends up having to test a sophisticated set of sex toys for an important client. Unfortunately she loses her test subject, so she decides to test the various toys on herself, only during her first testing there is a significant glitch which ends by her calling her mysterious boss by mistake, who monitors the testing himself for some reason. After this monumentally embarrassing incident Fanny figures she has nothing to lose and on an impulse enlists the help of her boss for the testing (which of course has nothing to do with him being oh so scrumptious), which in turn leads to a whole host of new problems, both professional and personal…I really enjoyed the geek speak and programming lingo (since it says on Dima Zales’ bio that he has a background in programming, I assume it’s accurate). I also understand that "embarrassment" is an important ingredient in rom-com, but at times it felt like too much, or rather, whereas I was still suffering from secondary embarrassment, the heroine and hero seemed to have gotten over it quite blithely, which struck me as just a tad unrealistic. So, as much as I enjoyed this cheerful and diverting romp, I felt that the characters lacked depth, hence I have to withhold the last star.
